Valerie Tanner Voices

I like to sing and I'm pretty good at it. Why should I work with a voice teacher?

Have you ever wanted to sing louder? Sing a solo? Perform a lead role in a show? Become a member of a select choir? Compete in a singing competition? Have you ever thought about singing as a career or teaching choir someday?

How do you prepare for such things? With a Voice Instructor/ Vocal Coach.

Hear are a few areas of interest we focus on:

  • Breath support: using the diaphragm muscle properly to support our sound.
  • Tone Quality: enhancing the color of your voice for a mature and healthy sound.
  • Stage Presence: overcoming nerves, preparing auditions, building confidence.
  • Diction & Musical Genres: in addition to singing in English we will explore other languages and many different styles of music.

My goal is to teach you how to sing any style of music, in a a healthy way, and for as long as possible.

It's your time to shine!

Setting goals and achieving success can happen on many different levels.

For some, success means singing an eight measure solo without passing out. Others define success with trophies and awards. Here are a few definitions of success from my students.

  • Superior ratings at OMEA Solo & Ensemble competitions
  • Lead roles in school and community theatre
  • Placing at the National Association of Teachers of Singing competitions
  • Schmidt Vocal Competition: Most Promising Sophomore 2010
  • Scholarships to top music schools: Capital University, The University of Dayton and Bowling Green State University (to name a few)
  • Opera Guadalajara

You've got style.

I teach many different styles of music. I have former students performing musical theatre in Chicago and New York. I have others performing iwth the Cincinnati and Dayton Opera companies as well as world travelers that have performed in China and Mexico. In addition to classical musicians I've coached the lead singer of a screamer band and the eclectic folk singer, jordan o' jordan.

With the right foundation you can sing any style of music.
